“Land of the Gods”
The time is 1916, the night before the Russian Revolution. Dark rumors are whispered across the imperial capital of Petrograd: “Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra have been manipulated by Rasputin the Mad Monk and driven to misrule.” The populace, worn and stretched to the breaking point by the ongoing World War, harbor deep frustration toward the Romanov dynasty. The momentum for a revolution is on the rise like never before.
Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich, an able army officer also related to the imperial family, is reassigned to Petrograd to guard the Emperor and his family. During his search for a way to save the House of Romanov, Prince Felix Yusupov tries to draw Dmitri into a scheme to assassinate Rasputin. Around the same time, Dmitri is offered marriage to Princess Olga by the Emperor. However, the afterimage of another woman lingers in his mind.
In the turbulence of the revolutionary fervor, the once glorious Winter Palace is about to be lost forever along with the eternal memory of the souls that lived for their mission at the end of an era.
The glamorous bijoux (“jewel”) captivates people’s hearts and mesmerizes viewers. “Classical Bijoux” is a Revue performance graced with the colorful brilliance of the Cosmos Troupe members in scenes telling the story of many a gem. Projecting the allure of Manato Asaka, who embodies the traditional beauty of Takarazuka’s otoko yaku (male-role) actors, to a jewel that emits a radiant array of color, the Revue delivers the utmost splendor.
