Story

"ANASTASIA THE MUSICAL"

The story begins in the early 20th century in St. Petersburg, Russia.
One winter night, Anastasia, the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, receives a music box from her beloved grandmother, the Dowager Empress Maria, with the words "Think of me when you play it." After then, the Dowager Empress moves to Paris.
Years later, Anastasia has grown into a beautiful 17-year-old princess. However, the Romanovs are attacked by the Bolsheviks during a ball at the palace. The execution of the royal family brings an end to the glorious Romanov dynasty.

Ten years have passed since the Russian Revolution. While St. Petersburg is still in turmoil, there is a rumor going around that one Romanov daughter Anastasia may have survived. Dmitry, a con man who has committed petty crimes to survive in the chaotic times, hears that the Dowager Empress is offering a huge reward for finding Anastasia. Dmitry and his partner-in-crime Vlad Popov attempt to defraud to gain the reward by using an Anastasia impersonator. The two con men immediately hold auditions for girls to portray Anastasia, but they can hardly find a perfect fit. That's when a young woman walks in to ask Dmitry about a permit to leave the country. She tells them that she has no memory of her childhood, and even her name "Anya" was given to her when she was in a hospital. Getting curious about Anya saying "Someone is waiting for me in Paris", Dmitry decides to groom her to become Anastasia. Even taking a lot of lessons of history, manners, and dancing, Anya still feels very anxious. Dmitry hands over a music box to her, which is Romanov's supposed article he bought in the black market. Then Anya easily opens the music box that nobody could open. The nostalgic melody coming from the music box takes Anya back into the past.
Although Dmitry has scrambled for raising money, the sum is far from enough to buy tickets to Paris. Anya then gives a diamond to him, which is very important to her; it is what Anya received from a nurse at the hospital as her personal belonging that had been found sewn to her underwear. This offer from Anya reflects her determination to trust Dmitry. After overcoming many difficulties, Dmitry, Anya, and Vlad leave for Paris where the Dowager Empress lives.
Meanwhile, the Russia's new regime has been investigating the rumor of Anastasia's survival. Officer Gleb Vaganov, whose father was involved in the execution of the Romanovs, always follows orders as his respected father used to do. Gleb is torn between the tasks he has to perform and the secret love for Anya he has had ever since he met her in the town. But Gleb eventually heads to Paris under the order to kill her if she is the real Anastasia.

They are now in the glamorous city, Paris. The more Dmitry knows about Anya, the less he believes that she is just an "Anastasia impersonator". With the help of Lily, who is the Dowager Empress's lady-in-waiting and Vlad's former lover, Anya is finally allowed to meet with the Dowager Empress after a ballet performance…
