"Yumesuke's Dream-Senryo Souvenir"
Kiichiro Yamate authored many famous Japanese novels, including the classic "Samurai Momotaro." "Yumesuke's Dream-Senryo Souvenir" is one of his representative works that follows the adventures of the robust yet peace-loving, meddlesome yet kindhearted hero, Yumesuke. The Takarazuka Revue Company will adapt this thrillingly amusing story into a historical play.
Yumesuke is the son of the village headman in Odawara. He receives a thousand golden coins from his father who orders him to go on a pilgrimage of amusement to the shogunal capital in Edo, in order to learn the workings of the world. During his travels, Yumesuke becomes the target of a woman pickpocket called Oranda Ogin, but she ends up falling for his simple and bottomless kindness. Ogin forces him into marriage and the two of them begin a strange married life in Edo. While Ogin strives to become the perfect wife for Yumesuke, she cannot keep her tempestuous streak at bay. At the same time, with the help of money and kindness Yumesuke fixes the problems brought about by Edo locals with peculiar personalities, including the playboy heir to a courier service, Iseya Sotaro.
What will the people of Edo earn from their encounters with Yumesuke who is the embodiment of virtue, and what will be the outcome of his pilgrimage of amusement?
