“THE Poe Clan”, the Vampanellas who are living eternally -
Once getting the energy into the body by kissing, they are allegedly drifting in the flux of time with deep sorrow and pain, without being allowed to cherish the past or to dream of a bright future.
The story starts in the forest near the village of Scotty, England. One night, while a ghastly wind is blowing through the trees, a young boy Edgar and his baby sister Marybell are abandoned by their nanny. They are discovered by an old lady, Old Hannah Poe. She takes them to her mansion filled with roses, which is located deep in the forest.
It has been thirteen years since Edgar arrived at the mansion. Baron Portsnell calls at the mansion with a beautiful lady, Sheila. “How beautiful she is....” When Edgar looks admiringly at the lady, he cannot imagine what destiny awaits him. That night he impulsively looks into the room where the “secret ceremony” is being held. Shockingly, he sees – Old Hannah kissing the neck of Sheila who is making a vow of everlasting love for the baron. He immediately realizes that they are Vampanellas. Old Hannah walks up to Edgar, who is trembling, and says decisively, “You will join us when you become an adult. Got it?”
Like a clock ticking, the moment, when everything of Edgar’s will disappear into darkness, gets closer and closer. And it comes abruptly - the Scotty villagers learn who the Poes are, and they besiege the mansion with pickets and torches. With the sole purpose to protect Marybell, Edgar voluntarily gives his neck to King Poe who has the thickest and strongest blood in the family. With the passage of time, Edgar’s body is - gradually, steadily, and evenly - being transformed.
Set in 1879, Blackpool, where there is an emerging port town. Edgar encounters a boy named Allan Twilight. While Edgar looks for a companion to continue his endless journey together, Allan is lonely without knowing what love is. The two souls resonate with one another and wander together... longing for the days in loving and in being beloved -
